A Jordanian soldier opened fire this morning on a group of Israeli schoolgirls visiting a shared patch of land in the Jordan Valley known as the Island of Peace, killing seven of the girls and wounding six others before his rifle jammed and he was seized.

The sculptor of this metal memorial was Pnina Elyakim who lived in Beit Shemesh herself where she was an art student. Not an easy subject to tackle.
